Sailpast at Dalhousie Yacht Club (DYC) is an annual event that marks the official start of the boating season. The day begins with the Blessing of the Fleet, where boats assemble at anchor on the water outside the piers for a brief ceremony. A prayer is shared for the safety and well-being of each vessel, her Captain, and all aboard. Following the blessing, boats parade in a single line up the channel past the club, where the Commodore inspects the fleet and salutes each vessel. Skipper and crew names are announced as they pass the Commodore, clubhouse, and guests.

Many boats are decorated to celebrate the day, and after the parade, most boats return to their slips for an afternoon dock party and refreshments.
