Haul Out 2023
Haul out events are full day events where many hands are needed to help out and the loosely scheduled sequence can change substantially for many reasons. Also, be sure to have your boats ready (e.g. pump out, etc) before your launch day.
Time & Location
Oct 15, 2023, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
St. Catharines, 74 Lighthouse Rd, St. Catharines, ON L2N 7P5, Canada
Descriptions
Please read over the following to help prepare for haul out;
- Prior to your scheduled date, please ensure your engine is in good operating condition, fueled up, holding tank pumped out, dinghy removed, as well as anything else on deck that could fall off or you could trip over.
- You must leave 4 fenders (2 port + 2 starboard, not under the sling marks) and 4 lines, attached to each side of the bow and stern, long enough (15' +) to pass to our travel lift support team on the runway when you enter the travel lift well. You should have a minimum of yourself and 2 others to help you pass these lines and haul your boat out.
- Make sure your sling marks are clearly identified. Mark them with tape or zip ties, on the top of your deck and side rails, so that the lift team can clearly see where to set the straps. Please measure and record the distance between your sling marks, so that when you come into the lift area you can pass that information along to the TL team to set the lift straps accordingly while the lift is still overland. This will also help to keep things running smoothly.
- Come early the day of your lift. We are a self-help club; this is one of the key activities where you get to work with your fellow members and support one another. Plan to volunteer for the day of your lift and don’t hesitate to volunteer to help on other days as well. There will be a sign-up link sent out beforehand.
- Your cradle will be removed from the pile the week prior to your haul out date so you will be able to prepare it. Be sure all nuts and bolts are there and easy to loosen/tighten. Bring along your tools needed the day of haul out, for efficiency. Remember to bring your pads for your cradle/jacks the day of haul out. If you require boat stands, be sure your wooden blocking is available.
- The power washer will be available to wash your haul, possibly with a volunteer crew, yet to be appointed. The water in the yard will be shut off within the next couple of weeks after haul out, keep this in mind when winterizing your boat. We will notify you of this date as it approaches.
- We will be having an In person / Virtual Haul Out information night this Thursday, October 6th, at 6 p.m., in the Members Lounge to provide further details on what you can expect for your lift, how to prepare your boat, haul out and docks out information.
