Notice of Race

August 22, 2019

1. RULES: The regatta will be governed by the 'rules' as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-

2020.

2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

2.1. The regatta is open to all boats with valid PHRF certificates. Boats must meet all ownership,

class membership and class measurement requirements, paid all event fees, signed skipper

waiver, and proof of insurance. Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Race

Committee.

2.2. Eligible boats may enter by filling in the attached registration form and submitting their fee

prior to 9:00 am, August 31st , 2019. Registration

3. FEES: Required Fees are as follows: $40 per Boat

4. SCHEDULE

4.1. Registration and Boat launch:

Registration is available at DYC on Friday, August 3o th and Saturday, Aug 31 st .

4.2. Skippers Meeting:

Will be held on Aug 31 st , at 9:00 am, West of the Dalhousie Yacht Clubhouse, beside the mast

crane. Fleet assignments will be posted at this time.

4.3. Dates of Racing and scheduled time of Warning Signals:

The races are planned to start at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 31 st .

4.4. Number of Races:

No more than four races will be held.

4.5. No race start sequence shall commence after 3:00 pm on Saturday.

4.6. Launch and Haul out:

No Haul out services are available at DYC. There is an (expensive) travel lift available at the Pier

Marina. A launch ramp is nearby at the Fish and Game ramps, South of DYC.

4.7. Prizes will be awarded at approximately 6:15 pm following the last race on Saturday. Results

will be posted on DYC's website. (www.dalhousieyachtclub.com/racing)

5. MEASUREMENTS

Unless there is a protest, no measurements will be conducted.

6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions may be available at registration.

7. VENUE

The racing area will take place West of the harbour entrance to Port Dalhousie, St. Catharines,

Ontario.

8. THE COURSES

The race course shall be 2 windward and 2 leeward legs for a total of 4 legs.

9. PENALTY SYSTEM

For all classes, the first two sentences of rule 44.1 are changed to: “A boat may take a One-Turn

Penalty when it may have broken a rule of Part 2 or rule 31 while racing. However, when she may

have broken a rule of Part 2 while in the zone around a mark other than a starting mark, her penalty

shall be a Two-Turns Penalty, Rule 44.3 scoring penalty shall not apply.

10. SCORING

The low-point scoring system, rule A4 shall apply and is modified so that each boat's series score will

be the total of her race scores with no scores discarded.

11. BERTHING

The Harbour staff may attempt to assign docks where feasible. Directions will be provided at launch

or upon arrival in the channel. Prearrangements may be made by contacting the Club Manager,

John Brown at 905-934-8325 ext 21.

12. HAULOUT RESTRICTIONS

Keelboats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with and according to the terms of prior

written permission of the Regatta Committee.

13. RADIO COMMUNICATION

Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio

communication not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. A radio

transmission channel will be given for race committee communication and monitoring at

registration and/or the skipper’s meeting.

14. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The

organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death

sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

15. INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall provide proof of valid third-party general liability insurance, in an

amount not less than $1,000,000.
